Spleen

In Chinese medicine, the spleen (pi) is a functional zang system, not the biomedical organ. The Neijing says the spleen is earth, governs the centre, and nourishes the four other zang throughout the seasons (脾者土也，治中央). It governs the transportation and transformation of food essence and the holding of blood within the vessels.
