In the Golden Cabinet (《金匮要略》) tradition, skin oedema (皮水) is a disease/condition described in the Essential Prescriptions (金匮要略, ch.14) — one of the systematic water-qi (水气) categories — named by a floating pulse with puffy swelling that pits on pressure, no aversion to wind, a drum-like abdomen, and absence of thirst.
