In the Golden Cabinet (《金匮要略》) tradition, phlegm-fluid retention (痰饮) is a disease/condition described in the Essential Prescriptions (金匮要略, ch.12) — the narrow type within the phlegm-fluid disorders — by a once-robust, now-thin body with water coursing through the intestines making a sloshing sound. A historical disease-category for reference, not a diagnostic or treatment guide.
