Five excesses

In Chinese medicine, the five excess signs marking a critical replete pattern. The Neijing lists them as a surging pulse, hot skin, abdominal distension, blockage of urination and defecation, and clouded oppression (此謂五實). Together they indicate a severe excess state and, in the classical account, a grave prognosis.
