In the Golden Cabinet (《金匮要略》) tradition, pleural fluid retention (悬饮) is a disease/condition described in the Essential Prescriptions (金匮要略, ch.12) — one of the four phlegm-fluid disorders — by fluid lodging below the rib-side after drinking, with coughing and spitting that pull on a pain. A historical disease-category for reference, not a diagnostic or treatment guide.
