In Chinese medicine, the nutritive qi derived from the refined essence of food. The Neijing states that ying-qi extracts fluid, pours it into the vessels and transforms into blood, circulating to nourish the limbs and the zang-fu organs. It travels within the vessels and is paired with, and opposite to, wei-defensive qi.
