In Chinese medicine, the paired treatment principles of routine and paradoxical treatment. The Neijing states that treating contrary to the manifestation is routine treatment, and treating in accord with the (false) manifestation is paradoxical treatment (逆者正治,從者反治). Routine treatment opposes the apparent signs; paradoxical treatment follows a deceptive sign to reach the root.
