传统中医记载：风寒温疟，热气诸痫，除邪，利大小便（《本经》）；疗水肿风肿，去膀胱热，伤寒寒热邪气，中风手脚挛急，通腠理，利九窍，止泄，散痈肿恶结（《别录》）；治中下湿热肿，泄脚气，行十二经（元素）。
